Swiss number two Patty Schnyder has eased through to the Quarter-Finals of the Western & Southern Financial Group Women's Open in Cincinnati. Schnyder, the 2005 champion, needed just over an hour to push aside Holland's Brenda Schulz-McCarthy on her way to a 62 63 win.
Schnyder, who is currently enjoying a hot run of form, saved 8 of 8 break points held against her, and took advantage of 3 of 8 that she held on Schulz-McCarthy's serve. Seeded number two, Schnyder will go on to meet Japanese seventh seed Akiko Morigami in the Quarters.
In other second round action, 20 year old Russian Elena Vesnina elminated Meng Yuan from China, winning her way through to the Quarter-Finals where she will meet one of her best friends on the tour and the tournaments number one seed, Anna Chakvetadze.
