Spaniard David Ferrer has blasted his way through to the final of the Catella Swedish Open where he will meet his fellow countryman Nicolas Almagro. Ferrer, the number two seed in Bastad, eased past Italian world number 27 Filippo Volandri in just over an hour, dropping only three games en route to a 62 61 victory. The Italian Fifth seed never seemed to get his game going, winning only 39% and 35% of points on his first and second serve respectively.
Ferrer's compatriot Nicolas Almagro however registered a much more hard fought win over 2002 Champion Carlos Moya 63 16 62 in one hour and forty minutes to reach his second final of the year. In the pair's third meeting, it was the first time that Almagro, 9 years to Moya's junior, was able to defeat his fellow countryman.
