Chakvetadze takes shock title win
posted Sunday Oct 15, 2006 05:05pm by BBC News

Teenager Anna Chakvetadze continued her superb run of form to upset fifth seed Nadia Petrova in the final of the Kremlin Cup in Moscow on Sunday.

The 19-year-old Russian beat her compatriot 6-4 6-4 to take her second career title following victory in Beijing two weeks ago.

Petrova was playing with groin and chest injuries and could not cope with her in-form opponent.

Chakvetadze broke twice in each set as she won in one hour 30 minutes.

"I was a bit lucky today as Nadia was not 100% fit," said Chakvetadze. "Nevertheless, I'm happy to win at home."
