1. Biggest drought breaker:

Brydan Klein wins the Aussie boys' junior title, becoming the first local in 13 years to claim the national championship.

2. Best spectator crack:

'C'mon Calvin' - a supporter at Klein's final on Rod Laver Arena.

3. Best player quote:

Andy Roddick discussing how much he would have paid to skip facing the press after his 6-4 6-0 6-2 hiding from Roger Federer: "Well I can't really say an amount because I would have got fined, what 20 grand. Obviously it would have been less than that right, if we're thinking logically.I would pay a lot of money if everyone would just make stuff up that I said and pretend like I was actually here. That would be fine. (But) my dad didn't raise me to run away from it, so here I am."

4. Best fashion statement:

Vasilissa Bardina's pink shiny disco-type dress. Bad luck it didn't help her game - she was beaten 6-0 6-0 by Clijsters in the first round.

5. Best fashion accessory:

Serena's Nike bag. It went everywhere with her, from courtside to her press conferences. Whether she actually used it for any real purpose is beside the point.

6. Best upset:

Mardy Fish came into the Australian Open ranked No.42 in the world and caused a boilover in the first round when he beat fourth seed Ivan Ljubicic in four sets.

7. Most racquets restrung:

Nikolay Davydenko had 41 racquets restrung during his Australian Open, the most of any player. Engaged couple Radek Stepanek and Martina Hingis both break plenty of strings.
Stepanek had the second most racquets restrung with 35 while Hingis was fifth with 29 racquets restrung.

8. Fastest servers:

Andy Roddick sent down the fastest serve of the tournament, a 231km/h bomb. In the women's draw no could match the speed of Serena Williams. She served a 202km/h lightening bolt.

9. Player who experienced the weirdest weather:

Maria Sharapova was on the verge of meltdown when the outside temperature hit 41 degrees during her first round match against Frenchwoman Camille Pin. In her final on Saturday the roof on Rod Laver Arena was closed because of rain, while the temperature hovered around 16 degrees outside. Hmm, Melbourne weather.

10. Best coffee maker at the tournament:

 Avner...whereabouts unknown.
