Nalbandian nails Stockholm Open title
posted Sunday Oct 12, 2008 09:29pm by Andre Jones

David Nalbandian won the 9th title of his career when he overcame home favourite Robin Soderling 6-2 5-7 6-3 to clinch the Stockholm Open title.

The top seeded Argentine who is looking to qualify for the Shanghai Masters and currently 7th in the world rankings will now go to defend his Madrid Masters title buoyed by his success.

"I think I played a very solid match today," said Nalbandian. "I did have some chances to win in the second set but at that moment I didn't play so well. Robin is a tough opponent. All our matches are very tight and this time it wasn't different. He hits the ball very hard all the time so I had to play my best to beat him."
