Jankovic wins Stuttgart Grand Prix as she reclaims No.1 spot
posted Sunday Oct 05, 2008 09:22pm by Andre Jones

Jelena Jankovic reclaimed the world No.1 position that she first held for a week in August by winning the Stuttgart Grand Prix with a 6-4 6-3 victory over Nadia Petrova.

Having overcome Venus Williams in an epic three set encounter the previous day, the Serb who has yet to win a Grand Slam won her third title of the year and second in succession having won in Beijing, breezing past the erratic unseeded Russian in just 83 minutes.

"That's two titles in two weeks and I'm back up to number one so obviously things are going pretty well for me now," Jankovic said, who gets to choose between prize money of $98,500 and a Porsche.
