---- PLAYERS APPAREL ----

To start off, the players' clothing: The players have to wear at least something to cover their upper body, hips and feet. Sleeveless shirts for men and short tank tops for women are allowed. Other allowed but optional accessories are caps, glasses, socks and bands.

---- PLAYING BASICS ----

Players have to use racquets to hit the balls. The point starts with a serve, a motion where the player tosses the ball and hits it with the racquet. The point ends when: - The ball hits the net and goes back. ( Point goes to the player from the opposite side. ) - The ball first hits the ground outside of the court. ( Point goes against the player that last hit the ball. ) - The ball hits the court twice, being the first one on the opponent's side of the court. ( Point goes to the last hitter. ) - The ball hits the court on the side of who hit it. ( Point goes to the other player. ) - Serve double fault ( This will be explained on the serve part. ) - Straight serve [Ace]

---- THE COURT ----

The court is divided at half by the net, with two blocks divided by half of the length of the court. The block that is closer to the net from each side is also divided in half from side to side. There are also two stripes, one on each side of the entire court length.

- The Stripes -

These stripes are counted as "out" during the singles matches. They're only taken into consideration on doubles matches, where they belong to the playing court.

- Normal Court -

This is the area the ball has to hit once each side so that it stays on play.

- Serve Squares -

These spaces only differ from each other because of the serve rules. The ball has to be placed on the opposite side of where it's shot. More details on the Serve section.

---- SCORE ACCOUNTING ----

The logical sequency is:

Point - Game - Set - Match

- POINT-

The point starts with a serve and ends when: : The ball hits the net and goes back. ( Point goes to the player from the opposite side. ) : The ball first hits the ground outside of the court. ( Point goes against the player that last hit the ball. ) : The ball hits the court twice, being the first one on the opponent's side of the court. ( Point goes to the last hitter. ) : The ball hits the court on the side of who hit it. ( Point goes to the other player. ) : Serve double fault ( This will be explained on the serve part. ) : Straight serve [Ace]

- GAME -

The count for each point is: 15-30-40-Game, so in most cases, players need 4 points to win a game. But if both players have 40, then it'll be called a "Deuce". From a "Deuce" situation, when a player scores a point it'll be "Advantage" for that player, and yet other point for the same player will give the game. On the other way, if one player has "Advantage" and loses the next point, things will go back to "Deuce" situation.

- SET -

A set ends when one player wins 6 games. Except when both players are tied at 5 games, the set will end when one player reaches 7. If both players come out tied 6-6 in games, a tiebreak will be made: - Tiebreak- A tiebreak has each player serving twice (except the very first turn where the serve is only made once by that player), and points will be added until one player reaches 7 points. If there's a 6-6 tie, the tiebreak will continue until one of the players has a 2-point advantage over the other.

- MATCH -

A match ends when the winning player gets two sets. The exception are the Grand Slams, Davis Cup and Olympic Games, where the male players need to take 3 sets to win.

---- SERVE ----

The serve is a motion where the player tosses the ball and hits it with the racquet. The players take turns on serving game by game. When one game ends, the other player serves. When that game ends, the other player serves and so on. The game always start with a serve on the right side to the left Serve square (Deuce side), and then on the next point it's from left to right square(Advantage side), then it's from the Deuce side, and so on. When a serve lands out of the correct square or stays on the net, it's a "Fault". Two consecutive faults cause a "Double Fault", which grants a point to the receiving player. If the ball hits on the net but ends up landing on the correct square, it'll be a "Let", and the player repeats the serve with no Fault being awarded.
